Objectives

The aim is to design and validate a European mobility training scheme that enables : 5. Promote social mediation and its practices from national to European level, as an innovation responding to the social challenges of European societies. Pooling the practices of European mediators by running a European social mediation network. 6. To give all European mediators the possibility of training through European mobility; 7. To obtain certification of their acquired skills from this training; 8. To enhance the value of this training within existing national diplomas and official certifications in the field of social mediation.

Background

This project has its origins in the professionalisation of European social mediators. Social mediation is an emerging activity. It develops actions in different fields, depending on the country. A common problem emerges. This observation led the organiser of this project to define and implement four European tours for social mediators. The Grundtvig Arlekin project (2013 > 2016) designed and initiated the first European tour in the 5 partner countries; it was taken up again as part of a wider project to "create a European space for social mediation", the Erasmus+ CreE.A project (2016 > 2019), in 7 partner countries. These European tours have been a vehicle for exchanging experiences and practices. But their success and the wealth of skills acquired, both by the mobile mediators and by those who hosted them on their placements, revealed the limits of the scheme: they did not obtain any recognition of their achievements. The CreE.A_MEM project set out to remedy this shortcoming by devising a comprehensive teaching system that would include teaching activities as well as the identification, recognition and certification of skills.
