Policies promoting financial education are vital for economic growth. The COVID-19 crisis worsened global economics, causing income loss and uncertainty, emphasizing the need for financial resilience. Basic economic knowledge is crucial for adults to engage in the economy, yet many lack it, leading to issues like choosing unsuitable financial products or neglecting financial planning. OECD recommends universal financial education from early childhood, integrating it into all school levels. Financial illiteracy affects diverse economic backgrounds, including high-income and educated adults facing challenges in budgeting or managing finances. The Global Attractiveness Index 2020 highlights that financial literacy varies across ages: peaking between 35-44, lower for those under 35, and particularly low among low-skilled adults over 50.
