The main operational objective was to feed into the research being carried out on the well-being of newborn babies in neonatology departments and, thanks to the support of the French hospital centre Yves Le Foll in Saint-Brieuc, to extend the debate to two partner countries, with the participation of two similar establishments in Spain and Italy, each linked to a Spanish and Italian neonatology department. In addition, the issue of gender in the neonatology department and in scientific studies was the subject of a second objective, which was to raise questions on the subject through the production of a video. Finally, the sharing and necessary internationalisation of productions meant that the work of others had to be made accessible in all countries.
Mrs Chauvel (head of neonatology at Saint-Brieuc hospital) and Mr Cosson (therapist and musicologist) wanted to carry out a study into noise pollution in neonatal intensive care. The idea was to develop and then study the impact of a tool for capturing, measuring and processing sound (reliable sound data) in the neonatal unit. The team of teachers involved in the Science and Technology for Industry and Sustainable Development (STI2D) stream was asked by the Saint-Brieuc hospital centre to create this box. In addition, this stream (STI2D) suffers from a lack of attractiveness (jobs in industry) as well as a gender divide (this year there are 3 girls out of a total of 70 students). So it was also interesting to look at this issue.
