The project's primary objective is to significantly enhance opportunities for vocational training learners and professionals in the blue economy sectors at both national and EU levels, along with other target group members. Through collaboration with experienced entrepreneurs and stakeholders, the project aims to create a platform fostering increased opportunities and new partnerships between businesses and support providers. Partners in each country will work towards achieving numerical targets for indirect beneficiaries and spreading knowledge of the project's goals and results. This strategy aims to raise awareness about competency development opportunities for professionals in the blue economy sectors. By connecting entrepreneurs and stakeholders, the project seeks to establish a collaborative ecosystem that not only benefits vocational learners but also contributes to the overall growth of blue economy sectors. The focus is on creating an environment conducive to forming new partnerships, thereby supporting businesses and professionals.
Our project application stems from the recognition of the untapped potential in the EU's blue economy, which generates €500 billion annually and employs 5.4 million people. Identifying a crucial gap, we aim to address the lack of entrepreneurial skills hindering new ventures in this sector. This aligns with the EU's focus on sustainable development, as outlined in the World Bank's definition of the blue economy. The research and innovation projects for Policy in 2017 emphasized the need to bolster the Sustainable Blue Economy. With sea fishing alone employing over 200 million people, there is a substantial opportunity to create jobs through blue and ecological tourism. Our project specifically targets long-term unemployed individuals, aiming to empower them with entrepreneurial skills. This not only addresses a pressing issue but also aligns with the European Commission's initiatives to promote environmental, social, and cultural tourism. By fostering a transnational approach, our project acknowledges the shared challenges and opportunities in Mediterranean countries.
