Objectives

By implementing the project we successfully raised awareness about zero waste management in the restaurant and hotel industry. Professionals in the sector now have a better understanding of the importance of waste reduction and sustainable practices. Through the development and implementation of the zero waste training module, vocational trainers and learners gained valuable knowledge and practical skills related to waste reduction. This improved their ability to actively contribute to zero waste initiatives in their professional lives. The project empowered professionals in the hospitality industry to take proactive action towards zero waste management. They gained a new perspective on their mission and work, becoming more engaged in their training and equipped to drive sustainable change within their organizations. By enhancing sustainable employability, the project equipped professionals with the necessary skills and competences to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry. Both trainers and learners experienced improved educational experiences through the incorporation of innovative training methods. The project supported the digital transition of vocational education and provided a more dynamic and engaging learning environment.

Background

By addressing waste reduction in the hospitality sector, this project contributes to the larger goal of achieving sustainability and minimizing our impact on the planet. While vocational trainings exist in the hospitality sector, they often neglect the specific focus on zero waste. By improving these trainings and incorporating the concept of zero waste, the project fills a crucial gap in education and equips professionals in the industry with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement sustainable practices. The project's emphasis on developing a training module that can be integrated into existing curricula without significant redesign allows for scalability and widespread adoption. By collecting concrete methods and good practices from partner countries, the project ensures a diverse range of examples and experiences. The creation of an online learning platform serves as a valuable resource hub, making the project outcomes accessible to a wider audience beyond the partner countries. The project's focus on waste reduction, zero waste practices, and sustainability in the hospitality sector aligns with global agendas such as the Europe 2020 strategy and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
