Objectives

The aim of the PEINTRES-EURO-QUALIF project was to : - to offer a permanent system for maintaining, consolidating and adapting the skills of heritage painters to the relevant level of qualification. - Establish an initial international network of training and certification centres to address a problem common to the 4 partner countries: the lack of training leading to qualifications for construction workers in the approaches used on heritage sites. It sets a precedent and creates a solid basis for future expansion of the network to other countries and other trades in the sector. - make visible the realities of heritage work sites, by focusing on the plastering and painting trades applied to old buildings - to support, through language modules and the setting up of international training and certification courses including mobility on heritage sites, the internationalisation of companies working in the built heritage sector, and thus prepare future heritage painters for European mobility..

Background

.The objective of the PEINTRES-EURO-QUALIF project was to help solve the problem of the skills shortage that exists at European level on built heritage sites for heritage site technician positions (EQF levels 4, 5 and 6). Among the trades involved in the restoration of built heritage, the project focuses on the family of painting trades: building painter, painter-façadier, decorative painter, painter-stucco worker, painter-restorer of mural paintings. The project meets a threefold need - the need for local authorities to ensure that the quality of work carried out in the field of built heritage is maintained, including work on protected cultural heritage (historic monuments, buildings covered by national or regional heritage codes) - the joint identification of companies, training centres and certification bodies, the acquisition, development and maintenance of the professional skills of technicians and skilled construction workers working on built heritage sites - building workers, people undergoing professional retraining and students wishing to enter the sector
