Objectives

The objectives that we wanted to achieve through this project were similar to the ones we had through the accreditation, which are : to support the mobility for rural youngsters, to promote the living together for the European youth and their feeling of belonging to European Union, and to raise awareness about ecological and environemental issues. - Support of mobility for rural youngsters : the fact that Citrus organisation is located in a rural area is one of the main pillar of the project. The offices and hosting center are located in the village of Laguépie, 600 inhabitants. The youth exchange project « Fly to the Flea Market » took place in another village, Vaour, with 352 inhabitants, village that participate regularly in some activities organized by Citrus. This project has contribute to increase the identification of Citrus by the local youngsters, and allowed them to get to know the different possibilities of international volunteering supported by Citrus : youth exchanges, but also European Solidarity Corps, french service civique, international workcamp. To this end, a considerable attention was dedicated, before the project, to facilitate meetings and gatherings between local population and participants of the project : during daily-life moments (meals, visits, evening) or during the workshops. Partnership with local organisations, Familles Rurales du Causse for the first activity and RadioAsso for the second, also contributed to strengthen the bond. At last, among the french participants, several were coming from rural area and took part in this project through an identification and mobilization process by the local team of Citrus. - Promotion of living together among europeans youngsters and to encourage their feeling of belonging to European Union : living together and doing together are at the core of Solidarités Jeunesses’s and Citrus’s project. Through a collective life frame carried by everyone (cleaning of the living area, cooking, schedule, and so on), participants can experience in a very practical form what it’s like to live together in an intercultural context. Through this tool, with the help of an activity leader and by the group leaders, with non-formal education tools, linguistic barriers can be overcome to create a new langage, shared by everyone. This is the first step toward this feeling of belonging, because it helps to create common references. Some group building activities were organised during the first days, and intercultural workshops as well in order to help to break down the prejudices that everyone is carrying, even unconsciously. Activites were organised in order to promote values of justice, equity, equality of chances, inclusion and non-discrimation. Moreover, Citrus organisation is attentive to support, in each project, independence and taking of initiatives. At last, in the actual context of war in Ukrain, a considerable attention was dedicated to the inclusion of participants from Ukrain. - Raise awareness about environemental issues : the ecological question is at the core of the whole project organised by Citrus. In the daily-life, in the international workcamps, seminar for youth workers or during youth exchanges, Citrus makes sure to implement ecological practices : food coming from local producers, to buy in bulk in order to reduce our waste, organic compost and recycling… During the first activity, « Fly to the flea market », ecological matter was the core of the project. The purpose was for the participants to think about fast-fashion and how it impacts our society. It allowed to raise awareness about inequality and pollution that comes from it. An exhibition was organised.
