The "CREATIVE" Youth Exchange took place in St. Peters, Sint Maarten from March 16-25, 2022. The event was held at the Rupert I Maynard Youth Center and involved participants from France, Hungary, Turkey, and St. Maarten. A total of 10 individuals took part, including 8 youth and 2 group leaders. The age range for youth participants was between 18-30 years old, while there was no upper age limit for the group leaders. The project addressed one of the most important issues in Europe and the world - environmental protection. Conscious Future, The St. Maarten Youth Council Association (The SMYCA), Hidak Ifjúsági Alapítvány, and Diyarbakir Cevre ve Kalkinma Dernegi, together with youth from partner organizations, emphasized that every individual has a responsibility for the ecological situation, and only by acting together can we save our planet. During the project, participants discovered how individuals can influence the environment and how to minimize harmful behavior. The project also focused on promoting responsible eco-friendly behavior through non-formal education and art within their communities. The objectives of the project were to encourage young people to better understand ecology and environmental protection and to develop intercultural dialogue between youngsters from four different countries through activities based on non-formal education that highlighted the traditional customs of their countries. They also raised awareness of the negative impact of xenophobia, racism, and discrimination by exchanging cultural aspects and traditions. The project promoted healthy lifestyles and sustainable living through non-formal education, creative, and artistic expression. The development of soft skills, improving competences, self-assessment, individual and group learning, by the use of non-formal methods, and promotion of its role and benefits regarding education were also part of the project. The intercultural environment created on the project led to the development of solidarity, tolerance, and intercultural understanding. The project contributed to the developing capabilities of youth organizations, as it was aimed to have a strong effect after its end when participants became active members of their communities and NGOs.
