Objectives

There is no Planet B! The list of ecological concerns is endless. Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to the entire world. According to scientists, decisive and immediate action is needed to contain the dramatic consequences of climate change. This view is widely shared by European youth, with 50% of them believing that fighting climate change and protecting the environment should be an absolute priority for the European Union. 92% of all young people in the EU aged 15-24 consider climate change to be a relatively serious problem, and 73% consider it to be very serious. Across Europe, young people demonstrated for the climate as part of the "Fridays for Future" initiative. Climate change will impact young people much more than those who are currently deciding how to deal with it. The consequences of climate change reveal and reinforce inequalities, particularly for young people and especially young women. So it is important of give young people a voice and to ake into account of their opinions, observations and ideas. Butit must also be noted that only a certain part of young people are engaged in different causes, such as the fight against climate change and sustainable development. These are young people whose family environment is more privileged, whose parents have qualified jobs, young people who are in higher education or who have qualified jobs. Based on this observation, our exhange project was born: to bring together young people from Germany, France and Morocco with less privileged family backgrounds, to learn in a non-formal and informal way in an international environment, and to encourage participants to become more involved in civil society at local and/or regional level, and to support them in this process. The main objective of this project was to empower a group of young people to act as actors of change for sustainable development, environmental protection and international cooperation. The project consisted of 3 phases of exchanges: an initial digital exchange (Nov 2021) and two physical exchanges in 2022, this meeting in France (16/05 - 23/05/2022) and a final meeting in Morocco. The sub-objectives of this phase are as follows: Deepen the participants' inter-knowledge, get to know the culture and everyday life in the three countries, develop in young people a deeper understanding of the environmental crisis, its drivers and consequences, enable young people to step outside their national vision and take a step back from intercultural differences in terms of environmental awareness and protection. Raise awareness of the systemic and complex nature of the various ecological challenges (particularly the connection with social and cultural issues) and mobilize young people and strengthen their capacities to engage actively. In addition to the objectives related to the theme, our project had the following objectives: encourage the promotion of diversity and shared values; - create a participative, intercultural and inter-linguistic setting; - deepen the knowledge about the three participating countries; - discuss and exchange on the daily lives of the young people; - become aware of the cultural influences on their own thinking, behaviour and reactions; - question themselves and become aware that certain realities that are considered normal, vary from one country to another; - introduce participants to ways of engaging as (European) citizens and encourage them to see themselves as full actors in the present and the future; - improve the social and intercultural skills and the ability of participants to understand today's society; - increase the participants' capacity for autonomy and their sense of responsibility; - make European mobility possible for all interested young people and also for those who face obstacles to mobility (e.g. financial obstacles); - - experiment with new communication strategies; - value all languages, discover and practice foreign languages through language animation - create and document the exchange through creative materials to disseminate the results to valorise the work and mobility experience of each participant.
