The project carried out is entitled “Young people, actors of change : between history and modernity”. It consists of two youth exchange activities : "Exchange between the City Youth Councils of Grande-Synthe and Suwalki" and "Exchange for active European citizenship between Dourges and Raszków". This project had several objectives linked to the Erasmus+ programme. Both activities were piloted in partnership with French local authorities from Hauts-de-France, Dourges and Grande-Synthe and their respective Polish partners, Raszkow and Suwalki. First of all, this project aimed to develop the place of young people in the international cooperation policy of the local authorities involved through the implementation of mobility for non-formal learning purposes. We also wanted to show to local authorities that they could engage in this type of action while strengthening their capacities in international mobility project management. Secondly, this project aimed to raise awareness among young people in the area, who are not very open to international activities, about interculturality between France and Poland. By setting up this project, we wanted to enable the participants to develop linguistic, cultural and historical skills and knowledge by working on the migratory link between the countries, and to become more autonomous, open-minded and creative through their involvement and participation in the exchange. Moreover, this exchange project co-organised by the local authorities and the young people of their territory aimed to encourage them to participate actively in local democratic life and in the implementation of public policies in the territories. Finally, the last objective of this project was to encourage young people to reflect and exchange on Europe, its issues and the idea of belonging, citizenship and a European identity.
