The project “Make our youth organisations more inclusive” aims to improve the inclusion of youth and student organisations. It is carried by three youth organisations : Animafac, IxESN France et Engagé·e·s et Déterminé·e·s (E&). It will take place from August 2021 to July 2022. Youth organisations are a real space for citizen participation, socialisation but are also a place to acquire social and professional competencies useful for young people’s personal and professional lives. However, we noticed that there are many obstacles to youth engagement. Some young people can’t be engaged in youth organisations because of economic and social obstacles, gender inequality, disability, cultural origins and differences and language. These obstacles have an impact on youth organisation governance as some young people do not dare to participate in these instances. Yet, the diversity of the profiles of young people engaged in youth organisations would be a real wealth. In order to make our youth organisations more inclusive, the project will be divided in two parts: 1) The first one is designed to change public policy through the elaboration of a booklet of recommendations in favour of inclusiveness in youth organisations. 2) The second one is designed to change the youth organisations practices and improve their capacity to be more inclusive through the elaboration of a guide of good practices. It will be used to inform and train young engaged people and students. The project will pursue the following objectives: > For young people and students : - inform and train engaged and future engaged young people on inclusion - allow the exchange of good practices - allow the acquisition and development of competencies - allow the participation and inclusion of young people in youth organisations and specially those with fewer opportunities - allow and strengthen citizen participation and carry young people’s voices > For participating youth organisations: - improve the inclusion of young people who face obstacles to their participation and engagement in youth -organisations inside and outside our networks in order to reach a wider audience - identify good practices in favor of inclusion inside and outside our networks to disseminate them in a long-terme perspective - inform decision makers to the question of inclusion in youth organisations and allow young people to be heard. > For public policies: - allow the elaboration and dissemination of public policies built by young people and decision makers. - facilitate the dialogue between decision makers and young people - improve the consideration of obstacles to engagement in public policies
