Objectives

With this project, we wanted to achieve four goals: 1. To introduce new contents and methods in order to encourage the development of socio-emotional competences and contribute to the increase of physical and mental health of teachers and students. They will then be able to deal with stressful situations, increase emotional intelligence, reduce anxiety and achieve better results in their work/study. 2. To create a database of digital materials (for open use) that contribute to mental and physical health of individuals, and at the same time to increase the digital competences of teachers and students. 3. Strengthen the inclusion of students with special educational needs (PSA and gifted) through their inclusion in project activities. The published digital materials have adapted activities for students with special needs. 4. Increase the cooperation between the school and the social community and the internalization of the school. Mental and physical health and inclusion are topics that are important in society, and with this project our school will actively participate in their promotion at the local, regional and European level.

Background

Primary school Grigor Vitez is a regular school with classes for students with special needs. The school implements four types of programs: a regular program, a regular program in a special classes for students with disabilities, a special program for students with a lower cognitive status (with mental and affective disabilities), and a special program for acquiring competencies for students with greater disabilities (schooling up to at the age of 21). According to this structure, the activity of the school is unique in the country. All teachers and professional assistants in all programs in direct work with students should properly structure and design the contents and methods of work for each child. Through various activities, individual and group, we encourage optimal functioning in each student on the cognitive, social-emotional and psychomotor level, and in this way, we promote our values and raise the quality of our work in order to live our motto: We are all the same in diversity! In recent years, we have been paying special attention to the mental health of students and teachers, since a psychologist confirmed increased anxiety in more than a third of students and teachers through testing.
