1 .) strengthening of the management capacity and supervising skills. 2.) modernisation of traditional teaching methods with the aim of increasing the use of new techniques and tools in teaching, 3.) strengthening the professional competences of teaching staff to work with students with disabilities (gifted students, students with learning disabilities, students with reduced opportunities, students with health and developmental disabilities). These goals are in line with our development strategy and we are continuously working on them.
The school counts 281 students, and within there are three regional schools: PŠ Krasica, PŠ Škrljevo and PŠ Kukuljanovo. Specificity are pupils who have to travel everyday by organized transport from Krasica, Škrljevo and Kukuljanovo to come to school at Bakar. The school also provides extended stay for pupils and a wide range of additional activities for them. There are fourteen students with developmental disabilities which are integrated into regular programs. Seven of them are educated according to the regular program with adaptation of content, and the other seven are educated according to the regular program with individualized procedures. This project aims to improve the work of the school, which will be reflected through modifications to the existing work system. It is expected to introduce innovations, new teaching methods, a better process of teacher work, increased participation of team work, implementation of the self-assessment process, as well as initial and continuous training for teachers.
