Awareness about the European UnionOvercoming skills mismatch and addressing the needs of the labour marketThe project is focusing on work-based learning and its implementation in the specific sector

Objectives

Internalisation of teaching and teaching methods, strengthening professional skills of catering, cooking and front desk. Increasing students' motivation gaining personal experiences and strengthening language competencies, developing awareness of the importance of lifelong learning, providing equal opportunities to all students and inclusion of students from socially vulnerable families, raising school status, opportunity for professional teachers’development and gaining new experiences, improving language competencies in an intercultural awarenes.

Background

We have applied for the above-mentioned project due to the fact there is a problem regarding students’ practical classes, which partly arose from the fact that due to the pandemic, a number of facilities were closed and the planned number of hours of apprenticeship could not take place. Another problem that we have faced is the workload of mentors in facilities that are under pressure (saving on employees) so they can not dedicate themselves to students in practice and pass on their valuable knowledge and experiences. The facilities are open only during the spring and summer months so students have no opportunity or contact with practical work throughout the year. We want to improve teaching and learning, enable students to broaden their horizons, strengthen their motivation, provide colleagues with the opportunity for professional development and contact with the real labor market. Encouraging students to develop an awareness of interculturality and belonging to a united Europe.
