The objectives of the project are: 1. Better understanding of European values and human rights The participants learned about European values and human rights through: a. Learning about the social, cultural and legal underpinnings of the European project, i.e. the European Union (Model EU) b. Comparing European to Indian civilisation (Europe Meets India) 2. Understanding European project based on ideals of liberal democracy The participants learned the roles of 7 key European institutions and the 7 fundamental values on which the EU is based upon. Participants learned why people have different opinions and why it is important to work together with people you disagree with. They applied this to understand how these institutions and values underpin the idea of liberal democracy – free and fair elections, rule of law and peaceful transition of power.
