By implementing Cinewar, we wanted to build peace and tolerance among young people from different countries, by empowering them on a higher level of critical thinking regarding war, and conflicts that happen daily in their local community. Next, we wanted participants to explore the backstories of different countries in order to understand why certain things happened, to challenge their views on war, on the perception of different events throughout history, and to think about how we can as individuals do things differently. By exploring a journey of what it takes to become a filmmaker, we wanted to show how films can have a strong impact on people, and the communities to which they are being shown. We wanted them to realize if that is the direction and a way of expression they want to keep developing in, or if they like to be involved in a different way. Our objectives were by giving participants an opportunity to create their own short film freeing their creativity, entrepreneurship, and digital skills to express their unique views on the topic, and present what they have done in front of others, be it participants or people outside of the project. Creativity is one of the most wanted skills in the business world for years now, and we wanted our participants to challenge it daily, not just by creating a film, but by working together in large groups with limited equipment and a time frame. Some people think that boundaries like that limit creativity, but the truth is the more boundaries and difficulties you have, the more creativity you need to make it work. Furthermore, we encouraged multiculturality, and our objective was for the participants to fully embrace the similarities as well as differences they might have with people coming from different countries. By doing that, participants became more open and were able to learn from each other about the things connected to the topic, but also outside of it. Other objectives were to raise awareness about the problems of violence and extremist behaviors in the world. As already mentioned it was crucial to encourage critical thinking for those topics, but it is impossible to have it without proper awareness and understanding. Our objectives were also to raise awareness about the importance of youth participation in society, and what are the actual EU values we should stand for. Rounding it all up and incorporating it within the big picture. Objectives were to give knowledge, empower, and bring tools to young people that can help them be more decisive and open about their personal and professional life. More specifically, for the participants to understand themselves better by stepping out of their comfort zone, and understanding the level of opportunities that are available in different places for personal and professional growth.
