Objectives

The youth exchange Be ActivE+ was imagined as determining the pro-active social-political involvement of young people to actively contribute to democratic life and the future of Europe. Prior to the project writing process, thanks to the research we concluded that the economic issues were the main contributor to the young people not being engaged in political and civic life. Moreover, we found out that the number of voters at the European elections is not as high as desired. In relation to the youth exchange and the countries participating, we have 60.73% in Spain, 33.53 in Latvia, 43.36 in Hungary, 51.20 in Romania and 29.85 in Croatia. The results are from 2019. This project had a purpose not only to make aware the youngsters to be active voters, but make them realise that every vote counts and that they are generators of change they want to see. The idea and plan were developed. We based them on research and our own observation of the communities we live in. Therefore, we saw an opportunity to act upon it since we considered there was a need for a change. We wanted to reach three main actors: 1. Participants: our main objective were youngsters since we consider the individual involvement a main generator of change. We wanted to make them aware of the importance of being involved in social-political life and consequences of non-existent participation or a lack of it. This involvement would help them build active and informed decisions, as well as develop critical thinking. They would know more about their rights and obligations. With their active participation, they would foster the confidence in the contribution and develop a more organised and fair society. 2. NGO: they are usually a first stop for many youngsters to set off for their active participation in the society. With this project, we wanted our partners and us to recruit more volunteers and with these volunteers to implement the topic in the communities. We also wanted to expand the network and identify new opportunities, which we believe are a lot. With our cooperation, we wanted to continue with development of activities, especially the international ones. The participation in another Erasmus + project was also our goal as this participation suits our needs as NGO-s. 3. Community: once we would work on the participants and NGO-s, we would observe the positive results on the community, in other words we would see the impact. We considered there should exist the socio- political dialogue with the government. We wanted to invest in the communities by developing this project, which would help them to access the information and educational opportunities.
