Objectives

Being intrinsically motivated, having the right set of key competences for lifelong learning and having skills to deal with stress will help youth to make better career and general life choices. Before the project, our youth workers did not have all the necessary tools to achieve this aim and we wanted to change it by giving them useful materials. Our project's objective was learning from the experience and expertise of our project partner to fill in the gaps missing in both of our organizations. We needed this to continue working effectively with youngsters on their motivation. Therefore, the main objective of the project was producing results that would be used by the participating organizations’ youth workers in their daily work- Guidebook and Reflection kit (set of cards with instructions). We wanted to create helpful material, effective and beneficial and not only to us, but for others like us - youth workers, teachers, psychologists, care workers in other countries, working in different contexts with young people.

Background

EDUnaut and BIOM are 2 different organizations that have in common the same underlying goal - offering support to at-risk children and youth without adequate parental support. Our partnership was united by a single vision: to empower these young individuals by equipping them with the tools to change their mindset, self-regulate in times of stress, and nurture essential soft skills. Therefore, MTE project aimed at fulfilling the needs of our youth workers; improving capacity of each partner organization by exchanging out practices and learning from the other partner. Methods needed to widen our knowledge and expertise were: psychology, stress management, problem based learning and experiential learning (BIOM's expertise); lifelong learning skills development, foreign language learning, sexual health counselling (EDUnaut's expertise). Our aim was providing the synthesis of effective methods and activities that can be used to foster motivation and fully engage youth participation. Our unified efforts and project results were meant to be helpful to us in our daily work, but to other European professionals working with youth who need practical resources, as well.
