Background

Although there has been a positive development in the adoption of digital learning solutions in European countries, the Covid-19 pandemic has limited the ability of VET professionals and educators to share their knowledge and provide training, especially in the agricultural and food sectors. Traditional educational techniques in the form of work-based learning and training have dominated this sector for many years, but the growing demand for digital education across Europe is changing this structure. Therefore, the creation of digital education and training materials for sustainable agriculture as part of the Farm to Fork strategy would not only fill the gaps for digital learning, but also accelerate the transition to more sustainable food systems and production practises in Europe. Citizens and actors in food value chains need a change, as current food systems are not able to solve environmental, social, health and food security issues in Europe and elsewhere. It is therefore important to look for innovative solutions to ensure the resilience of both structures. DG FARMER's project would accelerate the transition to sustainable food systems by training and educating professionals and educators
