Objectives

The main goal of our project was to improve our pedagogical work in several areas. First of all we had the plan to enrich our language teaching in he language preparatory classes by learning about new methods, and seeing good, innovative practices and then using them in our everyday work. Improving our digital education had priority in planning the goals of our project as we had to reach better results in this area. As we are an eco-friendly school we intended to learn about the possibilities of outdoor activities in school education. A better integration of school subjects was considered to be necessary and we had to get new knowledge about it, too. Because of the negative effects of the Covid pandemic, the improvement of emotional intelligence also became a hot topic so we wanted to find how to handle stress mainly through arts and physical education activities. Beside getting new experiences about digital education, the goal of the job shadowing programme was also to widen the international network of our school. Finally it was also important to improve the teachers' language competences, which could be used efficiently in our next European projects.

Background

Our grammar school can be found in the outskirts of the capital city, Budapest. It is maintained by the Education District Centre of Érd. At every grade we have two language preparatory classes with three English and one German groups. We also teach Spanish as a second foreign language. Our institution has the title of eco-friendly school so environment protection is a priority in our school education. The past few years of the Covid pandemic and the digital education meant new challenges in our pedagogical work. The management and the whole staff had experienced from our European projects how positive influence they had on the students' and the teachers' performance. Therefore we decided to continue working on further European projects. We determined the areas to be improved together with the staff. Consequently we decided to apply for training courses and a job shadowing programme in connection with the topics we wanted to deal with.
