Our main objective was to develop professional competences. By taking part in the competition, we wanted to give students experience in their profession, learn new tools, processes and techniques. Participation in a successful programme opens the eyes of our students to the fact that it is worthwhile to embark on and stay on the path of learning and development. If a student realises this, and is given the opportunity to prove it, the results will be invaluable for their future. We also aimed to develop linguistic competences, with a particular emphasis on language expression. The project will contribute to the development of their general language skills and the improvement of their professional jargon. We wanted the students to learn about the challenges and expectations of the modern labour market and thus receive authentic, relevant and useful vocational training. The international environment helps to reflect and reduce students' preconceptions and develop tolerance. The experience gained in the programme will also provide our school with a great opportunity to modernise and update our training and to align it with labour market requirements.
Our school offers several vocational courses, both full-time and evening. Vocational training is available in the following professions: cook, social worker, fashion designer, gardener and child and youth care worker. There is also the possibility to follow a 2-year vocational school course and adults can also attend evening classes in a gymnasium. Our students come from many places and diverse backgrounds. We have taken on a special role by being the only secondary school in Tolna County to offer courses for students with learning difficulties, special educational needs and disadvantaged (or severely disadvantaged) students. We are constantly adapting to changes and looking for ways to improve the quality and efficiency of our work. In addition to education, we place great emphasis on education and training, and on helping students to develop their skills and talents and find their own path. It is for these reasons that we have submitted our application for our cookery and social care students. We wanted them to have the opportunity to gain experience in their chosen sector, to practise a foreign language in a foreign environment.
