Objectives

Our project had several objectives, such as preparing students to participate in international cooperation, developing and strengthening an environmentally conscious approach, and preparing teachers to foster international relations and cooperation. Our aim was to give our students an experience of working and teaching abroad, so that in the future they would be familiar with working with international partners and being in a non-native language environment. In this context, we have high hopes of developing confident, active language skills and adaptability. It was important to familiarise our colleagues and students with the host institutions' environmentally friendly activities and to learn good practices in this field. Regarding the mobility of colleagues, the aim was to encourage participation in international competitions, to develop the language skills of teachers and to improve their professional knowledge.

Background

Our school, the BMSZC Verebély László Technikum, offers the opportunity to learn four professions in three sectors - electronics and electrical engineering, IT and telecommunications, law enforcement and public service: high voltage electrical technician, electrician, software developer and tester, and public service technician. Our students are enrolled in 3 years of vocational school and post-secondary vocational training, or in the junior classes, in a 5-year technician programme, in a progressive system. We provide free adult education in standard system and also night school. Since the application was submitted, the number of classes has increased and we now boast 28 classes and more than 800 students. Environmental awareness is a priority in our activities and we have an environmental education task group. In addition, we have a close relationship with the National Society of Conservationists, we have run workshops on light shows and we participate annually in the Sustainability Week events with guest speakers. As an Accredited Talent Centre, it is particularly important for us to ensure the widest possible horizons for our students, and possibly to create international learning and/or practical opportunities.
