Objectives

The National Youth Council is responsible for coordinating the European Youth Dialogue in Hungary. At European, national and regional level, the EU Youth Dialogue has worked with youth goals to shape policy for young people. The 11 European Youth Goals summarize the issues affecting European youth and the political priorities important to them. The Youth Goals show which areas still needed to change in order for European youth to be able to exploit their full potential. In 2018, around 50,000 young people took part in a European-wide survey. Based on the survey, the 11 youth goals with specific sub-goals were formulated under scientific supervision. All EU countries participated in the development of the youth goals and support them. The youth goals were included in the EU's youth strategy. The focus in 2020 is on the IX. Youth Goal, what is "Space and participation for all". Within the framework of the last EU Youth Conference, the participants looked for ways and good practices to facilitate the realization of this youth goal in all countries as much as possible. In order to enable young people to become active citizens who participated in democratic life, one of the recommendations was to lower the voting age to 16. To this end, the participants of the EU Youth Conference suggested that the lessons/workshops of NGOs would be included in the school curriculum, where NGOs teach students about active citizenship. With our project, we wanted to spread good practices to civil organizations in order to help the active citizenship education of young people in schools and youth organizations, and of course we educated the participants on active citizenship during the project. We used sport as a tool for this, since it also supports the health of the participants, and we realized that the use of educational tools that include sports activities is not typical for non-sport organizations. During our project, ENGSO Youth used the good practices of the "Sport for Active Citizenship" toolkit based on the "Sport for Active Citizenship" manual in order to achieve our educational goal.
