Objectives

The aim of the project was to help the young people involved to recognise the importance of awareness in their lives, and to collect good practices and tools that can help them to lead their everyday lives more consciously. Our aim was to help them to recognise what they can do for their mental and physical well-being, and to take time and care to eat healthily, exercise and manage stress in everyday life. And that we cannot neglect protecting our environment, that we can do something for the Earth as individuals and as a community. We also aimed to raise awareness of the need to use the media consciously, to use social media responsibly, to avoid falling for fake news and being misled when seeking information. We wanted young people to feel addressed on these issues and to realise the importance of active citizenship and a willingness to take action to create a more liveable environment that better meets their needs. Our aim was to enable young people to incorporate what they learnt during the project into their everyday lives and to create, by the end of the exchange, disseminable online materials that would allow the good practices and tips gathered during the project to be widely promoted. The exchange also aimed to develop young people's sense of initiative, as they were responsible for the design and implementation of many of the programme elements during the exchange. They were encouraged to discover and make use of outdoor activities and the opportunities offered by nature. We wanted the group leaders to discover how outdoor activities can be integrated into the youth work field and can be added to their methodology. The aim of the volunteering day, which was built into the exchange, was to help the local community and to give young people an understanding of the importance of volunteering and community activity, while also providing a tangible intercultural experience for the local community. Our aim was also to help young people learn about each other's cultures, customs and traditions, and to build good relations between the partner organisations so that they could carry out joint projects in the future. We have also created a methodological tool for youth work (a personal learning diary), which we have been able to perfect through our experience during the exchange, so that we can recommend it for use by youth workers as a tool to support learning and awareness-raising.
