Internationalisation is a priority of the strategic plan of Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT), now Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS). The strategic plan guides our policies in developing and strengthening international links to ensure that students have contact with international students on campus or undertake a semester of study at a partner university or a placement abroad. Our objectives are to work with academic coordinators to promote mobility and select partner universities that match the programmes that are of interest to TUS students for study abroad to increase the number of outgoing mobilities for study and traineeship. TUS has an overall objective to grow outward Study mobility by 50% and outward Traineeships by 20% in the coming year. We also aim to be the coordinating university in at least one Blended Intensive Programme. We are also working closely with Heads of Department to increase the number of outgoing staff mobilities on both teacher and training exchange and intend to grow this by 50% in order to create and develope new partner agreements.
