Objectives

University of Galway has been involved in the Erasmus programme since 1988, and has in excess of 290 Erasmus Inter-Institutional Agreements with universities in 21 different European countries. Participation in the Programme is a key element of University of Galway's internationalisation strategy and plays a significant role in the University’s objective of producing high-calibre graduates with the knowledge, skills and international experience that are important for their future. We recognise that international mobility, whether to HEIs or enterprises abroad, adds substantially to the value of our academic offerings and helps increase attainment levels. It reinforces students’ engagement with their chosen discipline, fosters a broadening of academic perspectives and brings heightened cultural awareness and improved linguistic competence, all of which serve to equip our graduates and researchers for future employment and contributing to the betterment of society. For our staff, Erasmus mobility offers the opportunity to gain valuable international experience, to share knowledge and expertise and learn from best practices abroad, all of which are crucial to the enhancement of teaching, research and professional development.
