Objectives

First of all, by implementing this project we wanted to achieve a higher level of internationalization. The international aspect of our organization is still too marginal in its daily running. There is still a sense of closure, of being limited to a town, a region or our country, even. Our organization would like to increase the sense of beloning to Europe, the will to travel and share, the yearning to go back out there and feel that the rest of Europe is also home, is a place where everyone can work, learn, contribute to society and grow as European citizens. Secondly, through internationalization, the feeling of sharing and learning professional skills about sustainable practice was a key objective. Learners had the goal of acquiring expertise on how to put into practice their knowledge but also the new information about local foods and practice in a sustainable working environment. Thirdly, social inclusion was a key objective, since, although no certified learnes with fewer opportunities or disabililies took part, some of the learners had special educational needs and needed their self esteem boosted. These very learners were keen to go but also very afraid, their attitude had completely changed when thye came back.

Background

The context of this project is strictly connected to the purpose of our organization, that is to say the hospitality field, i.e. cookery, restaurant service and hospitality. Our organization provides educational environments for its learners that are very much based on hands-on classes, as well as more theoretical lessons. For this reason, this project was fundamental for the completion of the educational process for the learners who took part in the mobilities. Our organization's context tries to provide specific, professional skills in the catering and hospitality sector that become even more precious if shared through international projects with host companies and fellow host organizations. The context of international relations and European work environments are focus elements for our organization , as very few learners would have the opportunity to experience vocational mobility without Erasmus projects. Hence, being able to participate in this project has improved the overall skills of learners and accompanying teachers as well as our organization on the whole, allow our initial context to become more international and a a consequence more complete.
