The project aimed to raise the knowledge of musicians about digital tools and channels where they could promote their work and allow their self-employability; increased the entrepreneurial skills of musicians and helped them develop their personal business plan; showed self-entrepreneur musicians' success stories to boost the attitude of musicians towards music and made them look at their profession as a profitable one; enlarged the educational offer of the partners with a new format of training course.
The outbreak of Covid-19 and the safety measures imposed severely affected music workers of all kinds. Employment in the art sector is precarious by nature and the coronavirus situation led to a worsening of this precarity, as well as to a peak in the unemployment rates. From one day to the next, most musicians found themselves out of work and with the only option of turning their work into digital, without adequate preparation and having to deal with already well-established digital businesses. Turning an entire profession digital is a decision that usually requires time and strategy, ingredients that were completely lacking given the exceptional circumstances. The project aimed at sharing across Europe success stories of musicians who managed to become self-entrepreneurs, and this increased the interest in the topic of self-entrepreneurship among many other musicians; the stories inspired and were a powerful call to action for those who felt abandoned and left out during the pandemic.
