Objectives

The aim was to develop a new education and training product, in particular a new Model Course, designed in the format of the IMO STCW ones, able to allow trainers to make a wide use of simulation and active teaching methods using the ultimate web tools and resources in order to perform effective teaching actions that could fit both lessons with trainees in physical presence and distance learning.

Background

This project has been the natural consequence of the deep conviction that good practices should be shared as much as possible and used to create new experiences to further develop innovation in education and training. It found its roots and origin in previuous experiences, such as the MariePRO project (2014-1-FI01-KA202-000828). In that occasion we discovered how enlightening is to operate with the finnish education system, also considering that we have a long-time partner in Turku (FI). We felt the need to develop new high-quality education and training products, able to concretely help young professionals to enter into the labour market. Our willing was to fill the existing gap in the Maritime Education and Training system in terms of the use of digital and web resources for education.
