IFOM applied for this project because we recognized the urgent challenges facing the tourism sector, as highlighted by the EU Parliament and institutions. The COVID-19 pandemic had significantly impacted tourism, leading to a drastic reduction in activities and putting millions of jobs at risk. Addressing these challenges requires a strategic investment in skills and innovation, particularly in transitioning towards sustainability. However, there's a clear gap in readiness among workers and CVET providers, hindering the green transition outlined in the EU Green Deal. By expanding CVET courses, enhancing professionalization in sustainable tourism, and improving digital competence, G4T aimed to address the lack of green skills and awareness among workers. Additionally, targeting NEETs and unemployed individuals, G4T aimed to address the lack of awareness about green opportunities and motivate enrollment in CVET programs to build confidence and skills for sustainable employment in the tourism sector.
