Objectives

The objectives of the EverGreen project were defined precisely in support of the creation of the aforementioned team and included - the expansion of the knowledge and tools of the educational farm operators in the field of intergenerational and intercultural learning; - the improvement of the over-65 volunteers' key competences on social inclusion practices in the agricultural field; - the creation of a network of international relations with other organisations active in social agriculture and education for sustainability. These objectives, to be achieved through the implementation of project activities, as well as being functional for the integration of new services and workshops offered by the educational farm, were also defined with the aim of supporting the start-up of other initiatives in the medium to long term, such as - the inauguration of a global vegetable garden for the integration of migrants and representatives of minorities in the area; - the creation of a sensory forest with thematic paths that can improve the conditions of users suffering from Alzheimer's and autism; - the design of a catalogue of activities to raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda goals

Background

Umbraflor is the largest nursery production company in Umbria and one of the most important in Italy in the service of economic development, environmental promotion and biodiversity protection. As a public service provider, Umbraflor also plays a central role in the training and educational sphere, being accredited both as an agency for continuous and permanent professional training and as a didactic farm for welcoming schools, families and groups of adults in order to promote direct communication between farmer and citizen. Thanks also to its participation in previous Erasmus+ projects, UmbraFlor has launched a series of socio-educational initiatives that are gradually strengthening its public function, transforming the nursery into a real hub for social experimentation in agriculture and capacity building for all the bodies and actors interested in activating multifunctionality paths in the agri-environmental sphere. In this framework, it is necessary to equip a team of educators and volunteers capable of co-designing and supporting the implementation of actions with a high social impact.
