Objectives

The project focused on developing teachers' skills in the fields of foreign languages and ICT. The mobility of teachers in the field of inclusion was also envisaged, but due to the high number of participants who tested positive for Covid-19, it was decided to participate only in the two mobilities mentioned above. Furthermore, a small mobility of students was created for the development of entrepreneurial skills, accompanied by teachers who simultaneously carried out hours of job shadowing. The common denominator was to offer quality teaching, reprogramming the educational action in all classes with the following objectives: 1) acquire methodologies for multilingualism, starting from the introduction of CLIL modules in all classes, to impart entire teachings in the final classes of the various curricula; 2) use of ICT and laboratory methodologies and digital education. Even at the end of the pandemic, laboratory methodologies will have to continue to be strengthened with the use of technologies to have greater opportunities for job development; 3) increase social cohesion and trust in institutions; 4) entrepreneurship; 5) inclusion strategies.

Background

The "A. Manzoni" Institute of Mistretta is a Higher Education Institute that brings together the high school (Classical and Scientific), Technical (Commercial and Tourist) and Professional (Hotel and Agricultural) courses located in the center of the island region of Sicily . The Institute intends to play a leverage role to revive the territory, which is marked by the economic crisis and linked to the phenomenon of "depopulation". In this context, the pandemic has further reduced job opportunities in tourism and catering, the last important sectors in the economy of central Sicily. For this reason, the school has adopted an internationalization plan with the aim of aligning the quality of the educational offer with the national average, starting from the development of foreign languages to arrive at the gradual replacement of textbooks with digital materials and offer opportunities of work inclusion for pupils in disadvantaged conditions.
