Objectives

Through the implementation of the project we wanted to give our Institute an international dimension, a fundamental opportunity for our students, which, also given the particular context in which we find ourselves after more than a year of social isolation, has become an indispensable tool for combating school drop-out and post-pandemic youth discomfort. Our other goal was to strengthen civic responsibility and attention to the "common good" Earth starting from an environmental sustainability project already present in our school, shifting our attention internationally with and peer-to-peer learning and exchange of good practices to reduce the ecological footprint. Furthermore, as an added value to the educational path, we intended to implement digital skills for effective and continuous learning with the aim of leading students to become European citizens.

Background

With the pandemic crisis, many of the students of our Institute, which is a Linguistic as well as a Classical and Artistic High School, have reported, due to isolation, motivational crises since they have been prevented from gaining international experience, fundamental for their address of studies. We therefore deemed it necessary to apply for this project in order to enrich the educational offer, giving our students the opportunity to complete their course of studies in a foreign country, with a view to promoting multilingualism and multiculturalism by strengthening their identity as European citizens . The exchange experience with foreign peers also proved to be extremely useful for teaching and learning good practices on the subject of the environment, which is central to the extra-curricular educational offer of our school. Learning what is done in other countries through direct observation has been found to be effective in making them more aware of the lifestyle changes needed to reset our impact on the environment. Finally, our Institute wanted to encourage the use of digital devices and platforms to improve the technological skills of our pupils to promote learning.
