Objectives

One aspect that characterises the Internationalisation Plan of the Liceo Morandi is the opportunity offered to students to broaden their provincial horizons, opening a window on the world. The objective is, therefore, not only to increase the linguistic-communicative skills of young learners but also to put them in a position to experience new ways of educational relations by enriching the educational offer with opportunities to study abroad and specific initiatives aimed at excellence. This type of proposal acts on the motivational lever provided by immersion in a stimulating dimension, rich in experiential and formative moments. The general objective of the project was to internationalise our institute's teaching by projecting the activities aimed at students into a European dimension. This objective was pursued by working on certain specific goals: 1) Strengthening students' digital skills; 2) Stimulating pupils' motivation to study in order to improve their school performance; 3) Developing students' key skills.

Background

One of the cornerstones of Liceo Morandi's mission is the internationalisation of the school as we believe that opening up to a European and international dimension does not only concern language learning, but also intersects with interculturalism, the use of new technologies, didactic innovation, inclusion and, last but not least, P.C.T.O. (pathways for transversal skills and orientation). Our Internationalisation Plan, which is periodically updated, is developed with short-, medium- and long-term objectives in a systemic vision that tends, on the one hand, to highlight and optimise the experience and activities that have always been present in our school (CLIL, language certifications, foreign assistants, language-study trips, individual international mobility) and, on the other hand, to propose and coordinate actions that improve the concrete opening towards different European and non-European areas: developing relations with foreign schools, expanding cooperation with the world of work, encouraging the learning of other foreign languages, improving awareness of European citizenship, fostering knowledge of different school systems and creating exchanges of good practices.
