Objectives

Implementing the activities included in the project has allowed some tangible steps ahead towards the achievement of the following objectives: - Reaching a stable integration of long-term mobility experiences within student’s educational paths: making them more inclusive (fostering access for students with fewer opportunities), more digital and greener. This objective has been pursued through the production of outputs about experienced best practices (storytelling, app, blog) produced by learners and staff. - Giving added value to learning experiences abroad through transparent and efficient means of recognition and validation (Learning Agreement, Europass Mobilty); - Encouraging the development of learners’ intellectual, social and creative potential, re-motivating and appreciating them to counter academic failure. This approach has also provided the momentum for the enhancement of innovative and cooperative competences for teachers, thus improving the efficiency and quality of education. The teachers’ strengthened cooperative abilities have also fostered the development of knowledge alliances with other European bodies, creating bonds that will be of paramount importance in the following years.

Background

The Crossing Roots & Crossing Cultures Project has been implemented to meets the needs of the school, with the aim of improving the weak areas underlined in the annual Self-evaluation report. The surveys conducted among learner and staff had highlighted that: - The learners’ communicative and linguistic competences, as well as their transversal and digital skills are not sufficiently developed, and do not allow them to face the fast social changes with self-awareness, balance and critical capacity; - Their learning path does not foresee a systematization of learning experiences abroad, which penalises particularly students with fewer opportunities - Students have limited access to transparent and efficient means of recognition and validation of learning experiences abroad, thus impeding a stable incorporation of mobility in the learning path; - They have little knowledge of EU roots, cultures and of existing good practices; - Very little value is given to creativity and individual differences.
