Objectives

The main goals to achieve with the 2021 project call were: 1) to continue providing opportunities for undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students to undertake internships abroad in Europe as part of or immediately following their academic studies; 2) to increase the participation of IUSS at the European level through the mobility of academic and research staff, for training or teaching purposes; 3) to strengthen the international activities of IUSS (a young university, established in 2005). Outcome 1 was very successful, as all funds allocated to student mobility were utilised. IUSS is a small university focused on advanced MSc and PhD programs, so the student population is not extremely high. Additionally, the proportion of international students (non-Italian) is very high, making it less common for students to wish to go abroad. However, this situation is gradually changing, especially since IUSS became the coordinator of a national-wide PhD program, with more than 100 students enrolled each year. In fact, the number of applications for the 2022-2023 calls is already growing rapidly. For 2 and 3, the outcomes significantly strengthened academic collaborations and increased IUSS's visibility in European institutions.
