The background of the University of Calabria’s project lies mainly in its long and positive experience gained over many years in managing mobility projects for students, faculty, and staff in European universities and companies under previous community programs such as LdV, Erasmus, Socrates, and Lifelong Learning. The University actively participated in the pilot phases of the Erasmus program in 1987 and in the subsequent phases of the Erasmus program. It was awarded various Erasmus University Charters (EUC), culminating in receiving the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and the Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) for the entire duration of the Erasmus+ 2021/2027 program. In previous community programs for education and training, the University, in addition to Erasmus mobility for students (credit mobility), faculty, and staff, also managed two Leonardo da Vinci mobility projects for students and graduates and Erasmus mobility for placements under the LLP program. This was done to offer students, in addition to study mobility, the opportunity for internships in European companies and organizations.
