Having the opportunity to be able to increase our expertise regarding adult learning was the main intent we wanted to achieve. The initial part of WP2 geared toward the creation of the toolkit, involved several phases of study, reading, and analysis. This allowed the team working with the partner, to discuss the topic of training with adults, and skills development in their respective countries. Subsequently, there was reasoning on the choice of the most appropriate exercises for the assessment of problem solving, creative thinking and critical thinking competence. This was followed by a careful analysis of the most appropriate survey instruments and methodologies. Finally, the part on MOOC implementation and promotion gave us an opportunity to explore unconventional ways of transmitting knowledge based on audiovisual forms of learning. The possibility of doing research, video and audio to transmit knowledge would not have been possible without the implementation of PLACE and funding from the Erasmus+ program.
We applied for the Erasmus+ call with the intention of being able to deepen the skills of the staff within the organization and in particular the skills related to the ability to carry out assessments before, during and at the end of the training courses that are implemented. PLACE was therefore first and foremost an opportunity for Irecoop and Reset staff to grow about the topic of adult learning and specifically the learning to learn competency but above all about the processes, purposes and techniques needed to structure assessments. We know the needs of classrooms and often the dynamics of training courses but sometimes we are not able to measure the starting level of participants in our courses accurately and, as a result, the planning of classroom activities and the division of participants into groups is sometimes not effective in achieving the training objectives we set. Finally, it has given us the opportunity to learn about the European context through partnership with another organization, and to foster a European culture within Irecoop with respect to the 21-27 goals and future local and European challenges.
