Objectives

The project objectives were the promotion of well-being, active ageing, digital competences, personal, social, learning to learn competences, social inclusion and equity. All these objectives were shared by the four participating organizations, especially in such a period in which socio-economic differences were worsening and problems related to inclusion, wellness and work were increasing. The aim of the project met the needs of the target group, adults or seniors and the professionals who work with them: the project activities were focused on the development of competences which are useful for improving the quality of life of the target group, such as promoting a healthy lifestyle, a correct approach to all the changes that life today imposes on us, promoting skills to understand the importance of psychological wellbeing, nutrition, physical activity, social media and digital transition in our everyday life.

Background

The project was inspired by the post COVID-19 pandemic situation, which has shown new and unexpected problems in the life of people and has highlighted all the frailties and weaknesses of our communities. The pandemic has negatively affected many people’s mental health and created new barriers for people already suffering from mental illness and emotional fragility. The lockdown has caused isolation, exposing people to long periods of sedentary life, alterations in the rhythm of life and an unbalanced diet, with long-term consequences in their physical and mental health. The lack of social contacts has exacerbated solitude and the risk of social exclusion and discrimination. The strong use of digital tools has highlighted the lack of digital skills of many adults, increasing the gap between generations. All this determined the partner organizations to apply for this project. The needs addressed by the project were: improving the quality of life promoting a healthy lifestyle, a correct approach to all the changes, promoting skills to understand the importance of psychological wellbeing, healthy nutrition, physical activity, social media and digital transition in our everyday life.
