By promoting the Erasmus+ Programme in its principles and in the opportunities it offers to organisations and people, through actions at local and transnational levels and in a perspective of intergenerational dialogue, the project wanted to contribute to the construction of a common European identity, involving new organisations and people in a process of discovery of the Programme. The specific objectives we aimed to achieve are 1. to improve the participant's organisation capacities in seizing the opportunities that the Eramsus+ Programme offers them; 2. To increase older people's knowledge of the Erasmus+ programme and to foster their active participation in the Programme. 3. To improve the capacity of cooperation between youth organisations and organisations for older people to achieve common objectives.
Promoting Erasmus+ among all citizens and generations is the priority the project responds to, addressing a target group of the population that records very low participation rates. The project proposal stems from the partners' experience in different specific sectors: communication, non-formal education - both in adult and youth sectors - and intergenerational dialogue. In outlining the context, the partners referred to data collected in small-scale research at the local level; the framework of official data; and the resources available on Erasmus+ Project Results, EPALE, and SALTO. The set of collected data confirmed what had been hypothesized as a premise: the low knowledge and participation of the elderly population in the Erasmus+ program and the weakness of collaboration activities between organizations with different target groups (young and old) within the program.
