The main objectives of the project were: ◦ to increase awareness of cultural and social aspects of violence ◦ to share knowledge on different types of violence in relationships with the contribution of partners volunteers. ◦ to develop new skills concerning the prevention of the main forms of violence against women and children. ◦ to co-design and implement activities with trained volunteers ◦ to raise awareness of violence in relationships in local communities. ◦ to contribute to the fight against violence, through the dissemination of the results of our activities at the local and European levels.
Why did you apply for this project? Altro Abitare and Akadimos have been operating on initiatives to prevent and tackle issues related to violence in relationships for several years. The project aims to respond to the interest our volunteers regarding cultural and social aspects of violence in relationships. With a focus on cultural and social aspects, they sought to develop: • Knowledge and new skills needed to prevent violence, with more effective and faster actions to protect and escape from the cycle of violence. • Ideas for implementing innovative services and practices, activating citizenship, mass media, and community, proposing educational paths for promoting correct, non-violent behavior styles. • Insights into prevalence of violence at a local and European scale. What were the needs you have addressed? Altro Abitare and Akadimos, aligned with the same shared visions on violence, investigated through implementation of project • complexity of phenomenon of violence in relationships still largely submerged • greater exposed violence in new social context as observed during the pandemic • needs to foster emergency policy, to greater awareness. to empower communities - to start a dialogue for a uniform protection in E.U.
