Objectives

This project aims to improve civic and citizenship education, to enhance the qualification of teachers in order to foster CCE: participation and ESD of young people across Europe. We aim to improve Inclusive strategies, gender parity and respect of the environment which have been a transversal care in all steps. The project supported greater European understanding and sustainable development. This project aimed to enhance the motivation, together with the qualification of the teachers in order to foster civic and citizenship education (CCE) and sustainable citizenship behavior of young people across Europe. Partners worked for developing the educational strategies and producing the tools to prepare young people as citizens and encourage them to take an active part in their school and community (linked to the horizontal priority Common values, civic engagement and participation).

Background

We applied for this project in order to work together over the borders answer the needs of qualification of the teachers in civic and citizenship education (CCE) and Education for sustainable development (ESD). We answered the needs of having effective teaching and selfevaluation materials as well. The initial training of the teachers for this subject is poor in the partner countries (s. Eurydice too) and the project work fills a gap offering in service training in theory and practice (LTTA and mutual monitoring work). The area of civic and citizenship education in not well defined yet and a conceptual clarification was needed; the international European exchange allowed defining the field in clearers way. Our society needs active, competent responsible citizens.
