The main theme of the project "Beyond all barriers" was architectural barriers in Italy, more precisely in Pignola, and in Spain in Barcelona. The term architectural barriers refers to all those obstacles (stairs, narrow doors, pavements without access ramps) that prevent the movement of persons with reduced mobility. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that barriers are obstacles of any kind that prevent the realisation of human rights. Although comprehensive legislation exists in Italy (Law 13/89, Ministerial Decree 236/89 and Presidential Decree 503/96). The interest in developing this project arose after an analysis of the presence of architectural barriers (through an experiment carried out in Basilicata) and in the analysis of the non-fulfilment of the rights of persons with disabilities in places where obstacles are present. The experiment carried out in Italy stimulated a great discourse among the associations that decided to present an Erasmus project to make people without any kind of disability aware of the understanding of breaking down barriers that prevent social inclusion and the exercise of people's rights. The main objectives of the project were: 1. To raise awareness among young people and communities about the problems faced by people with disabilities when they are confronted with an architectural barrier, addressing the problem of the non-exercise of the rights of persons with disabilities as set out in the United Nations Convention. 2. To understand the different points of view of young people with and without disabilities, which in turn will promote diversity in society through new technologies.
