This project wanted to raise awareness, especially among young european citizens, about the urgent need of changing our daily habits, as these are one of the main causes of pollution and waste. It is fundamental to make a sustainable change, in order to safeguard our environment. Everyday we hear tremendous news forecasting natural catastrophes if major changes are not soon implemented. It is also common to hear people talking about sustainability, which is a world having a large meaning. Sustainability is something big, it is the direction where we should head, a big change that we consider feasible, if each one of us does their part. For this reason, we started changing our personal daily habits, being the firsts to change, giving our modest contribution. Subsequently, we questioned ourselves about how we could contribute to make people more aware and ready to change their routines. The answer to this question was to create a Youth Exchange aiming at these results. Thanks to this Youth Exchange we thought that we could involve a larger number of people, helping them to understand the importance of every single citizen’s contribution. Yet, at the same time, we believed that they could help us through a fruitful exchange of ideas, in a stimulating environment that could make a group of young people aware of their potential. We were also hoping that thanks to this experience they could learn and share objectives, ideas, and practices, beginning an effective process that could reach an increasing audience. Although we are acquainted of the fact that almost everybody knows this issue, nowadays largely discussed, our main objective was to help people in understanding how important is the part made by everybody. We were hoping to make the participants change-makers, simply sharing practices, ideas and habits that could have a remarkable and concrete impact. This project was aiming at having a better understanding about how certain issues might be faced up in a more effective way, learning from those who already put in place countless variations to their customs. Those people we are referring to are peers coming from different countries: we wanted to stress on diversity and heterogeneity, as we believe those have a great value. Organising this kind of Youth Exchange, we have been actively proposing something concrete regarding this topic, and we believed that it could have become an input for other participants to do the same. Considering that it happened, we believe that it is a method to do active citizenship, inspiring others to do the same, causing a cascade effect, which can reach larger dimensions and have a stronger impact. We wanted to hold the project in three phases: firstly making the participant aware of the existing problem and what they will do, this phase would have started taking place before the project. Secondly, a fruitful exchange of opinions and good practices was supposed to be promoted. Lastly, results achieved and notions gained are going to be shared, even after the end of the mobility.
