Sport has proven to be an essential instrument in the provision of positive development paths, harnessing the accumulation of important life skills, which as a result could act as a driver of youth empowerment and resilience to negative influences such as delinquency, violence and radical ideas. Research studies have further connected the role of sports with the establishment and adherence to positive adult role models, in return diminishing acute risk factors related to crime and extremism. In other words, the advocacy and implementation of sports initiatives could lay the groundwork for prevention of youth radicalization campaigns, especially when combined with other social initiatives, such as media literacy classes, vocational training, integration courses, etc. Therefore, this project aimed on addressing the current threat of youth radicalization with violent extremist believes, through promoting sport as a tool for increasing and reinforcing positive social thinking and behaviour. The aim of the project was the cross-cultural cooperation and exchange of best practices between young individuals (main target group) - through the implementation of sport initiatives and tools necessary to effectively tackle the indoctrination of young people and promote acceptance of diversity in society.
