Objectives

We are looking forward to engaging motivated youth, sharing the concept of gamification and discussing the issues in motivating young people during their learning processes including youth projects. The main problem is that youth loses attention while experiencing learning in a “traditional” way as it does not provide enough satisfaction, pleasure and joy. We are bringing in game design elements to their lives. Participants raise their competencies in non-formal tools like games, simulations, role-plays and get enabled to apply them towards their learning processes. Simply put, youth can convert their not attractive tasks, exercises into a game. They can set daily goals, break tasks down into steps (levels), assess accomplishments and reward themselves. Gamification is a good way to get things done, take up new hobbies, break bad stereotypes and all this with joy and pleasure. Gamification can be applied to youth events too as it’s considered as a “booster” of non-formal learning. We enhance skills and competencies of young people including people with fewer opportunities by promoting social inclusion, dialogue and solidarity. As youth organizations, the goal of our partnership is to improve our competences and involve young people to make a tangible impact on the projects that we are organizing - we will find new ways of engaging participants, new approaches and new solutions. At the end of the youth exchange we aim to raise awareness of game-based learning and gamification. Participants will learn from facilitators; they will be provided with different examples of organizations/companies that implement these approaches and ultimately participants will try out these games together. In addition, we are going to organize a “local project” during the youth exchange in order to evaluate the skills they have learnt and developed. Participants work on dissemination activities and help society grow whilst having their own skills improved. They are enabled to bring new ideas to projects and influence the outcome of it. Participants will make their own cultural evenings in national teams. They will be asked to use games during them to test their skills. Young people will be sharing their traditional dances, songs, food and cultures. Through this, we are promoting intercultural dialogue, diversity, tolerance and respect. Participants will express their unique cultural points of view. By discussing our cultures through different games, we are looking forward to building good team rapport and concentrating on issues surrounding sustainable development. In this way, we are going to spread our competencies through different online and offline channels, involve more and more youth and make them understand the value games can bring to their personal life, careers and even to youth projects.
