Objectives

The project was designed and planned both to meet the needs of the organizations and youth groups they work with, and to address two of the main societal issues and challenges for young people and future generations: sustainability and multicultural societies. To foster integration, intercultural dialogue and environmental awareness among youth, that was the main objective of the project. Therefore was built a program to foster and experience in a small scale a multicultural gastro society, where diversity is an opportunity of enrichment and sustainability and protection of the environment is a priority. The impact on the environment of food production and lodging and also of personal choices are important issues the participants learned about, following the European Green Deal. Thus, sustainable food education was one of the purposes of this project, which also educated the participants and the indirect target groups of the project to orientate themselves in the purchase of organic and local food. With this project, Amaita Intercultura and its partner organizations contributed to multicultural integration through food, one of the most important cultural bridges. To sum up, through non-formal education, this project allowed experimentation and freedom in exploring flavors and textures while fostering environmental awareness and less food waste among participants. It led to healthy culinary traditions and triggered the expansion of the palate by going global. In the end, our project strategy promoted less food discrimination within Europe and beyond, which itself led to less cultural discrimination. The promotion of Erasmus+ and the discussion on the main role the EU has to play to fight climate change and other environmental related challenges, as well as in showing to the world the possibility of building peaceful and multicultural societies, were also important objectives of the project. Within it, the role of youth in continuing and improving actions toward these objectives has been promoted. Last, the cooperation among youth organisations of six different countries was planned with the objective of having a first cooperation and to exchange good practices related to youth mobility and youth work.
