Objectives

This project has successfully responded to the request of young people to create, together with the participating organizations, a new experience that would directly involve them, creating innovative spaces and tools for aggregation and democratic participation. Through the planned activities, the young people were able to confront each other, learn about the functioning of the most important EU institutions and get in touch with European and local officials, experts and policy makers at local and European level. This project was able to build relationships between young people from EU and non-EU countries, between organisations, between policymakers from each country and young people, bringing the latter closer to the institutions and making them aware of how they work. Thanks to the implementation of this project, the young people have been able to: Learn: they have been informed and encouraged to inform themselves independently and responsibly about the EU and about issues related to how to participate in public debate, both at local level (e.g. voting, referendums, petitions, collection of signatures, possibility of active and passive voting) and at European level (European votes, European Citizens' Initiative, online consultations, together.eu, EU Youth Dialogue, Youth Goals, EYE). The participants, analysing their daily lives, reflected on how belonging to democracies and, for those who are part of them, to the EU, affects and influences their daily lives. Develop: participants' soft and digital skills have been enhanced through carrying out the planned activities. In fact, the young people developed the activities autonomously with the support of a trainer and the coordinator of ETV and the coordinator of their association. In carrying out activities at the local level, as well as during transnational events, participants were able to use many digital tools (PCs, smartphones, photos), software and applications to carry out research, presentations, videos and role plays. Raise awareness: meetings with policy makers, experts and public administrators were organised to raise awareness of the EU and its relationship with local public authorities, with a particular focus on green policies and those dedicated to young people. During the activities, the participants were able to deepen some of the key values of the EU (human rights, democracy, European integration) and compare themselves based on their personal experiences. The production of videos and photos served as a multiplier of the results of the activities and the activities themselves, such as surveys, also served to involve third parties (peers of the participants and third-party associations) in the project. Make their voices heard: the skill of young people to self-organise and influence decision-making processes at local, regional, national and transnational levels was supported, helping to bring about positive change in society. This project was able to meet the quality standards required by the Erasmus+ programme, as the project, at its end, has been: - participative: the young people managed the project and its implementation in all phases. The participants collaborated with their associations assiduously for the creation of the material necessary for the development of international activities and carried out local and online activities. -educational: the participants, thanks to the proposed activities, were able to learn about the functioning of the most important European and some local institutions. In addition, young people were able to learn about the history of the EU and its values. From the meetings with experts and policy makers, they were able to learn about the relationship between the EU and local institutions. -useful: the participants, through the experiences of the project, were informed of the tools available to citizens to take part in decision-making processes, at local, national and international level. -visible: the project organisations have been in touch with third parties, both public (schools, municipalities, regions) and private (foundations, institutes) for the implementation of their own activities and those of the participants, making visible the EU action through the Erasmus+ programme. -shared: a transnational network of associations working in the field of youth, interested in promoting the EU, democracy and its values, has been created. Links between EU organisations and organisations from third countries have been strengthened. All activities have been designed and implemented together by participants and associations both locally and transnationally.
