Objectives

Objectives: - to enrich their methodology of intervention on young people with fewer opportunities, in particular young people leaving family homes, by working and exchange with youth workers from another European country - to increase their ability to support the young people aged approximately 16-22 years leaving family homes in the achievement of personal, social and economic independence, through the integration of methodologies borrowed from the partner and adapted to the local context - to gain experience in international cooperation (for the Dimora Accogliente it was the first direct participation in a KA2) - to offer their youth workers an opportunity for personal and professional training and networking at a European level - to give their local network the opportunity of an exchange with professionals from another European country. For Dimora, to increase the capacity to operate in an international context and to successfully manage a European project and organize the related activities.

Background

The global situation made the intervention with young people becoming independent after living in a foster-care harder and harder. Dimora Accogliente needed an exchange with other organisation at the European level to acknowldge new solutions. Besides that, after experiencing the benefits of some Erasmus and European Solidarity Corps projects and participating in a KA2 as an external partner, the Dimora Accogliente needed to open up to international cooperation to broaden its vision, improve its capacity in project management and embrace international collaborations, as well as providing its youth workers with the opportunity to interact with colleagues in a European context, improve their knowledge and practice of new methodologies. After having identified a partner through the Erasmus results platform, unfortunately the Croatian partner suddenly withdrew, forcing us to start a new search. tThrough our Erasmus+ network, we identified the Romanian organization Youth Alma which also works with young people leaving family homes and had the same interest in the project and the same need to find new solutions and to train their youth workers.
