Objectives

The objectives of Erasmus+ project "Ecolife & Sustainable Community": (1) To raise awareness of Eco-Life via non-formal activities, study visits, best practice examples and related issues experienced by other countries. (2) To experience and learn more about how to enhance and sustain a sense of community belonging.

Background

VsI Ziniu kodas (Knowledge Code) has established Leisure Academy where elderly, long-term unemployed, disabled people, from large families, and other adults facing fewer opportunities, have possibilities to participate actively in social and educational activities, ensuring Life-Long Learning. The needs analysis also showed that (1) more free educational activities are wanted by learners, (2) the most concern was about the topics: (a) environmental issues: how to sort waste correctly, how to apply greener behaviour in their families and even in their communities; and (b) how to strengthen our community via common activities; lacking the sense of community belonging is even stronger after COVID19 lockdown. As nowadays media talks a lot about a "greener" lifestyle, Green Pact, and Green Actions Strategy, our learners need to learn more about this and find practical ways what they could adapt locally in their living environment. We have chosen Italy as the 2019 Eco-Innovation Index ranks Italy in 8th place, right after the index's leaders (Luxembourg, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Germany, UK). Besides this, Italians have a strong sense of community compared with the mentioned countries above.
